Looking Back…COVID-19 Emergency Hospitals
Eighteen months after the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, the goal for the U.S has been set to have 70% partially vaccinated by July 4th. The State of Rhode Island has surpassed that goal – and n|e|m|d is proud to share that 100% of our employees are fully vaccinated.
In April of 2020, we understood the severity of COVID-19, having served as project architect for the three emergency field hospitals for the state. In less than four weeks, the projects went from preliminary design to completion. Now, as the vaccination rates are rising, we are seeing cases fall and hope soar.
With the decrease in cases, RI has been able to close the emergency hospitals that we worked on. We will never forget the efforts made by our team, the RI National Guard, Lifespan, Care New England, AECOM, AKF, CA Pretzer, Dimeo Construction and everyone involved in the Convention Center, the former Citizens Bank building and Quonset locations for working tirelessly to add 1,500 beds to the state’s capacity for COVID-19 patients. Like we said one year ago – where there is compassion, there is strength, and we will continue to overcome these challenging times- together.
