Lahey Hospital and Medical Center-Burlington, MA
Type of Construction
General Scope of Project
n|e|m|d architects, inc., has provided architectural services to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center since 2003. Recently, n|e|m|d oversaw the three-phase renovation of Lahey’s Cardiology suite. In Phase I, secretarial and fellows spaces were relocated.
In Phase II, n|e|m|d redesigned the suite’s waiting room and created five much more personable spaces by utilizing furniture groupings, low walls, soffits, and special lighting. The design maximizes the comfort of the waiting patients while providing improved privacy within the check-in area.
For the final phase, n|e|m|d worked closely with clinicians and administrators to create a typical exam room and to develop a triage area that best leverages the hospital’s newest technologies. These spaces will be used as prototypes for the renovation of the entire Cardiology clinical area, consisting of 24 exam rooms and 18 offices. As part of the final phase, n|e|m|d oversaw construction scheduling so that the clinic was able to remain open throughout the building process.
