Read MorePart of the first floor and floors three through six designated as lockdown psychiatric floors. The unit will house group therapy, consultation, exam, and activity rooms in addition to space for patient beds. Creating secure environments for staff and patients to safely provide and receive care is a top priority. Specialty impact windows and anti-barricade doors will accompany intricate security systems throughout. Renovations include enhancement of the building’s facade to correct moisture penetration issues.
Read MoreOver the past several months, the Wise team and project partners—n|e|m|d architects, inc. and BR+A Consulting Engineers—have been coordinating the removal and replacement of an existing MRI Bay at the hospital. The renovations include a range of enhancements, from an upgraded control and equipment room to improved silicon steel and RF shielding. Additionally, a new purge exhaust system and a chiller on dunnage, along with architectural modifications to adjacent rooms, have been carefully tailored to accommodate the hospital’s latest addition—the GE MAGNUS MRI.

TOCCI and NEMD’s experience in Greater Boston’s healthcare facilities gave the team foresight to tackle long-lead time items, set and meet project milestones, and keep construction moving without disrupting CHA’s ongoing operations. Onsite, teams and trades often performed off-hours work, sometimes around the clock, to meet the vigorous schedule and ensure continuity of care for staff and patients within the highly trafficked care center.

This time, another 9,000sf will be added to the hospital to absorb the broad referral base of over 100 hospitals stretching from eastern Connecticut to southern Massachusetts. Pariseault Builders was brought on board to collaborate with n|e|m|d and provide preconstruction budgeting and scheduling efforts to guide the project toward the most cost-effective final design.
